Groundbreaking Art Exhibition, Anchored by Danny Simmons’ Artwork Announces Gallery Talk with Art World Experts Presented by Strivers Gardens Gallery & Souleo Enterprises, LLC
“eMerge: Danny Simmons & Artists on the Cusp” gallery talk includes a panel featuring some of the art world’s foremost leaders, a meet and greet with exhibiting artists, live music and the unveiling of the time capsule project
WHAT: After breaking attendance records for opening night and receiving media support from NBC, the NY Times, NY Daily News, Ebony.com, rollingOut and more, eMerge: Danny Simmons & Artists on the Cusp will hold a special gallery talk on Sunday August 12, 3-5PM. The free exhibition is anchored by the works of visual artist Danny Simmons, co-founder of Rush Arts Gallery + Resource Center, a core program of the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. Danny, brother of Russell Simmons, is also the co-creator and executive producer of the HBO series Def Poetry Jam and a published author. Co-curated by Lisa D. Hayes, Esq., manager of Strivers Gardens Gallery, and event/media content producer Souleo of Souleo Enterprises, LLC, the exhibition will run through September 7, 2012.
The gallery talk will include the panel, On the Cusp: Collecting Art by eMerging Artists with some of the art world’s most accomplished advisors, gallery owners and curators including former head of Sotheby’s worldwide VIP program, Sotheby’s Preferred, and the current founder/CEO of AKArt—an art advisory agency, Amy Kisch; owner and director of Causey Contemporary gallery, Tracy Causey-Jeffery; curator, art historian and arts management specialist Debra Vanderburg-Spencer whose clients include The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (Exhibitions Manager), the Harlem Arts Alliance, William J. Clinton Foundation and the Galleries at The Interchurch/Rockefeller Center. Guests will have the opportunity to view the works of and interact with the exhibition’s artists–many of whom repurpose everyday materials like teabags, thumbtacks and buttons into fine art. The Harlem Arts Alliance and Souleo Enterprises, LLC youth members, CULTURE CRASHERS–along with the debut of the time capsule project (created by Jeremiah Drake)–will provide live music in the garden.
